The King Arrives

1800th century festival in the Fortress Town of Fredrikstad.

The event marks King Fredrik IV of Denmark’s arrival to Fredrikstad in 1704. The military heritage companies build a camp and craftsmen and the soldier’s families join the scene. Stroll through a lively market with local and historical products for sale.

Opera at Fredriksten fortress in Halden

Opera Østfold’s bi-annual performances at Fredriksten Fortress have garnered domestic and international praise. This is the largest open-air Opera in all of Norway. The next opera performance will be Mozart´s Magic Flute in 2017.

The Glomma festival in Fredrikstad

The festival has focused on the city´s maritime culture and the importance of the Glomma river. The Glomma is Norway’s longest river and runs right through the city and has historical significance for the city’s development.

Nearly every event has a free entrance. The most spectacular event is The Glomma River Duel, a fun and popular race on the river with the most creative floating crafts you ever have seen! - everything made of cardboard.

Månefestivalen in the Fortress Town of Fredrikstad

Månefestivalen or The Moon Festival offers you a different festival experience by combining music, art, theater and literature in the beautiful surroundings of the old fortress town of Fredrikstad. Whether you prefer an intimate concert in the beautiful old church or club dancing in the black box, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Olavsdagene in Sarpsborg

Olavsdagene or St. Olaf´s Festival is named after Olaf the Holy who founded the city in 1016. Find your favorite Viking bargain at the market filled with various crafts and meet craftsmen such as potters, blacksmiths, silversmiths, woodcarvers and shoemakers.  In 2016 the city will celebrate its 1000 year anniversary and historical heritage as a former Norwegian capital with pilgrimage, theatre, exhibitions, concerts and St. Olaf’s Day Mass.

Moose Festival in Aremark 

This festival is a tribute to the moose. 

Activities such as ATVs, hunting and fishing, crafts and other exciting things! Several food vendors serve local dishes such as elk burgers, sausages and other delicious food. The festival area has its own patisserie; “Moose” which offers a large selection of gorgeous homemade cakes and fresh brewed coffee at a reasonable price.

Next festival is in 2016.

 

 

Rudskogen Motorfestival - annually

Rudskogen Motor Festival is an annual family event for the whole family with speed, sport and excitement in focus. The first festival was held in 2012, hosting World Champions in Formula 1 Red Bull Racing.
