Sail in to Fredrikstad Cruise Port through Norway`s beautiful archipelago in the Oslofjord. The archipelago of The Hvaler Islands that make up this scenic Kingdom consist of more than 833 islands and skerries. The Hvaler archipelago also houses Norway’s first Marine National Park and because this region provides more sunshine than many other places in Norway, it is a perfect place for recreation in a peaceful environment.

Next to the port is Gamlebyen - the old city - which is the best preserved fortress town in Northern Europe. If you seek more excitement or adventure you can take a small river cruise with one of the free city-ferries to the lively centre and pay a visit to the quayside promenade of the inner city of Fredrikstad.

The cities of Halden and Sarpsborg are only a short bus ride away, along the famous Ancient trail. Here you can explore Norway`s most concentrated collection of cluster and ancient monuments dating back to the Bronze and Iron Age. This area is also filled to the brim with beautiful peaceful landscape for outdoor activities like hikes and bicycle rides as both the streets and nature is full of history.

The Halden Canal is a well-kept secret tucked away along the Swedish border, enjoy a beautiful canal boat tour in Scandinavia’s oldest and highest locks. Meet the majestic Fredriksten Fortress which has protected Norways borderline for almost 500 years. Fredriksten Fortress has been blitzed but never beaten and still stands as proud as ever. Today this is a beautiful and stunning bastion with an amazing view over the city of Halden, the fjord and over to Sweden.
